Welcome Message from Principal
As Principal of Danu Community Special School I would like to welcome you to our school website. DANU CSS was sanctioned in July 2019 by the Department of Education and Skills under the Patronage of Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board and we welcomed our first students in November 2019. We are temporarily based on Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School site and we would like to extend our thanks to the Principal and Board of Management of HETSS. We move to our permanent location in Riversdale Community College in September 2021.
Our school is a centre of excellence where high professional standards are maintained and where students learn in a safe, warm, happy, friendly and caring environment in partnership with all stakeholders. The well-being of all members of our school community is paramount.
Our vision provides a positive learning environment that enables every student to reach their true potential and gain the skills and tools necessary to engage in school life as well as life outside of school. Our school offers a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that is child centred taking into consideration our individual student needs, abilities and learning styles.
We want our students coming to school happy and participating fully in school life. We recognise parents as primary educators. We aim to provide purposeful and relevant learning opportunities so students can be as independent as possible and reach their true potential with confidence and pride. Our students’ achievements and accomplishments are acknowledged and celebrated. I truly believe every student in our school will feel cherished and valued and have the opportunity to develop and grow with confidence throughout their school years here and years beyond.
We aspire to being active members within the local Dublin 15 community using the amenities available.
We owe an immense gratitude to our stakeholders who tirelessly campaigned for the establishment of DDLETB’s first Special School. For that we are truly grateful that our children have the opportunity to engage in an appropriate education that suits their needs.
